It’s been rough lately. I cringe to look at the news notifications on my phone these days, and even closer to home, I’ve had too many texts and messages of friends who are going through difficult times.
It’s easy to fall into a sea of negativity, to get sucked into the muck, to rant and rave.
I’m doing my best not to contribute to this wave. I want to be responsible for the energy I put out to the world, for the way I show up on social media, and for the things I focus on.
This does NOT mean we don’t mourn. It does not mean we don’t hurt. It does not mean we should put on a Pollyanna face and be inauthentic.
It simply means, look for the blessings. Be kind, be decent. And as cliche as it may be, “don’t sweat the small stuff.”
There’s always something to complain about, but we can always find something to celebrate – like these sunny flowers (some of which made their way to my kitchen table). They make me smile.
I am celebrating that I have access to, as well as the means to have fresh flowers in my home. There’s always something to celebrate.
On this week’s episode of “We Got This”, ER and I chatted about how we can always find something to celebrate. You can listen to it here.
