Riding high on love and cupcakes after Saturday night’s Birthday bash, I headed out the following day for a intensive business retreat, a part of a year long program I recently began. Initially, I was a little reluctant to start the program this month, knowing that the first in-person gathering would come after a very busy time. I decided it would only help to keep the momentum I’ve felt lately building, and dove in.
There were seventeen beautiful soul centered entrepreneurs tucked away in our own haven surrounded by nature.
I had been a part of the group’s FaceBook page for about two weeks, but hadn’t spent much time learning the various players.
Upon my arrival, a lovely tiny woman with a very thick French accent came up to me with a bouquet of tulips.
“I saw on FB that you just had your Birthday,” she said, ” so I bring these flowers for you.”
Me: “Huh?” I don’t know if that’s what I really said, but that’s what I felt.
This woman, who I learned had traveled to the event from NYC, schlepped tulips on the train, for ME? Someone she didn’t even know?
I was a bit perplexed, but extremely touched.
“They are happy flowers, and so I wanted to do something nice for you,” she explained.
Wow.
Let that sink in for a moment.
When was the last time I made a small gesture like that, for someone I know…let alone a stranger!
Marie’s gesture was simple, yet powerful. I will always remember it, and keep it close to my heart. The tulips now sit on my desk and are looking back at me today exuding joy. Yes, Marie was right, they are happy flowers.
As soon as you come to the end of reading this, I invite you to make a small gesture. It could be to a stranger, or someone you know well. A simple text telling them you love them, and why. A phone call just to say ‘I’m thinking of you’, or helping a stranger who has her hands full load her groceries into her car.
Then pass this invitation along to someone else.
Thanks Marie! xoxoxo
