Sweep it up and move on…

Last week I arrived home one night after presenting a class with one of my dear friends and biz partners, Wayne, to find my seven foot Christmas tree had taken a nose dive.  Endless needles, broken glass and water everywhere.

My vision of a nice cup of tea, and a good book to unwind was replaced by the vacuum, paper towels and piles of needles.

Oh well.  Stuff happens.  Every damn day.  Sure, every once in a while there is that standout “golden day”, but most days there is something, big or small, that has the potential to derail us.

A tree tumble goes under the category of small stuff, even though it made a big mess.  Wayne, Rich and I worked to get the tree upright, and clean the mess.  It is now tied to my curtain rod – fingers crossed.

It was getting late and Wayne has a bit of a drive home, so I said, “I’m sure this isn’t the way you wanted to spend the rest of your evening.”

He said, “Spending time with friends?  Why not?”

I smiled.

It’s not what you look at , it’s what you see.

The tree fell on top of my coffee table and amazingly this glass bowl (my grandmother’s) that currently holds a delicate glass ornament, was unharmed.

There is always something beautiful and glistening amid the mess.
