Random messages and connections…or just what you need

Last week I spent the first part of the week at a Women’s Business Retreat (hence no blogging or newsletters last week). This group meets in person a few weekends a year.  It’s always evolving, so there are new faces every time we gather, but because of the intense nature of the program, we bond quickly.

This is the third (and final retreat) for 2016. Each time the retreat dates came along, there always seems to be something else going on that almost makes me cancel.  Last time it was a crisis with a friend, this time I was just overwhelmed, exhausted and not feeling great.

I almost canceled.

But I showed up.

This card was sitting at my place.

It was THE PERFECT message for me at that moment (they swear the cards are randomly picked.)

It was what I needed to hear.

I also had a wonderful time getting to know the new women, and reuniting with some of the veterans in the program.  I made some wonderful new connections, both for business and personally. I left with a full heart and buoyant spirit.

The world is is full of interesting and awesome people, and the best way to find them is to go somewhere you haven’t been, to push yourself a little.

It’s so easy to play in the same circles, or opt for staying on the couch watching The Voice and sipping a glass of Merlot.

Don’t!

Go out. Pick up the phone.  Attend the meeting. Accept the invitation. Start the conversation. Join the group. Or in my case, get my butt to the retreat.
